Games That Stole Our Hearts...

KILLER BUNNIES Okay, so I was reluctant to buy this game, or even play it, for a long time. It's called Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magic Carrot, and I have to tell you - it's so much fun! The rules of the game are complicated to learn (you should see me teaching it to someone who's never played it before), but it's simple to play after you get the hang of it, kind of like Settlers of Catan - hard to learn, easy and super fun to play : ). The whole point of the game is to keep as many of your own bunnies alive while collecting carrots, and terminating other players' bunnies. I always feel like a nerd when I say that ; ). Anyway, I think that all of you should give this crazy game a try if you haven't already!

TICKET TO RIDE

Or the Train Game as we call it, has become one of our all-time favorite games. Even though we are never able to win when we play with our friends (right Spencer and Jamie?). It involves a map of the U.S. or Europe, Germany, or Switzerland - depending on which version you buy, and you try your hardest to lay down track between certain destinations to win. I enjoy this game a lot because it's like a competitive geography lesson : ).

Ticket to Ride in action. The opponents: Lance and JoAnn, however I don't know how much Lance is into this round : ).

CARCASSONNE

This game is SO much fun. Each round every player takes turns drawing a tile from a deck and places it on the table to create the gameboard. To win you claim forests, meadows, and rivers and try to 'close' them. In the end, each one yields a certain amount of points. The one with the most points wins! This game takes a lot of stategy to win, and I if you enjoy Settlers of Catan, I'm pretty sure you will love this game too.

IN A PICKLE

This game is really fun to play with just about anybody. There are a bunch of cards and you have a certain number in your hand. Every card has one word on it like turkey, or the universe - just a bunch of random words - and you take turns trying to make the words fit into eachother and in the process you create a fun little story : ). For example if you played a card with the word universe on top of the word turkey then you would be saying the turkey is in the universe, and then you could play another card on top of universe, and the story would keep getting bigger. It's pretty fun!

THE SETTLERS OF CATANI think that most people have played this game, but it's also one of our favorites! You set up the board - which is different every time - and consists of different hexagonal tiles that depict either ore, sheep, lumber, or brick. Throughout the game each person uses their own strategy to build settlements, roads, and cities. Each one of these has its own point value, and the first person to 10 wins!

...and who can resist PASS THE PIGSA rousing game of Pass the Pigs is able to lift anyone's spirits. Who can be sad when they've just rolled a double snouter and scored 40 points? I put this one is as a joke, but it can actually be pretty fun. You roll two pigs : ) and see how they land, and that determines your points!
