Kwanis Park

Karl and I went hiking on Thursday at a beautiful little park in Pleasant Grove, UT called Kwanis Park. It was so fun! The trail goes on for a long time, and for the first hour and a half you are walking in the shade beside a beautiful spring riddled with waterfalls. There is also a big, beautiful waterfall along the way. We took our little dog Gus with us, and I was worried that we would have to carry him most of the time, but he's surprisingly such a good hiker! He kept up with us the whole time and - like most dogs - loved to play in the water!

I don't know what kind of face this is, or what inspired it, but I love it : )! It's like he's saying, "Oh yeah, this is fun!" or "Oh man, I hate this!". If only we knew : ).

Gus and my love in a little cave that we found.

Gus hanging out in the water.

Gus posing by a tuft of grass. I just love that face.

The big waterfall. So fun!

Six Random Facts About Karl & I

I was tagged on Autumn's blog, so here are six totally random things/things you never knew about the two of us!

KARL:
1. He had his braces on for 7 years, totalling almost 1/4 of his life up to that point! They FINALLY came off in June 2008. Imagine my bliss : )!
2. Despite all of the crazy things he has done in his lifetime, he has never had a broken bone, stitches, or surgery. Truly unbelievable. You should hear the stories of all his adventures : ).
3. He has hit 2 different deer on 2 separate occasions on 2 different motorcycles. Once with me :(.
4. Karl's nicknames: 'The Admiral', Goat, Militant, Roney, & Eskarlito
5. He has been shot, and he has shot through the floor of his own truck. Oops!
6. Karl is amazing with a sewing machine. What's even more amazing is that he totally taught himself.

MEAGAN:
1. In high school I was running down the hall in socks on a newly waxed floor (seriously, it had been waxed the night before) and I fell flat on my face! I didn't even have time to catch myself with my hands. It really hurt, and as a result I have two fake front teeth : ).
2. I didn't kiss anyone until I was 18 years old.
3. I can't swim : (. I REALLY wish that I could, but I'm just too afraid of the water. However, I have dreams quite often that I can swim, and I love it : ).
4. I would love to be a chemist or some type of scientist. I even thought about nuclear physics once : ).
5. I was in a rollover when I was 16 years old, and now I'm SO afraid whenever a car tips or takes a turn too fast. This is sad because my husband loves to go rock crawling, and I'm not yet brave enough to go with him. Hopefully I will get more comfortable with time.
6. I have somewhat of a photographic memory. If I'm reading something I can usually remember where it is on the page if I ever want to find it again.

Where It All Began...

I was looking through some of our old pictures today, and I came across this one - sorry it's grainy, I don't have a scanner so this is a picture of a picture : ). For those of you who may not know, I used to fight fires for the Forest Service, and this is how I met my husband, Karl. This picture was actually taken in Texas. We were there on an assignment to find pieces of Space Shuttle Columbia after it crashed in 2003. Karl was actually my Crew Boss, and I kind of liked him at the time - but that was it : ). He never even asked me out until June 2003, and this picture was taken in February 2003. So my point is...look how I just happen to be right next to Karl, and then - look at how I am looking at him! Could I have possibly been more obvious?
Karl and I are in the middle, and if you can't tell I am the one in the wooly brown sweater with the wandering eyes ; ).
