I was in search of a good book last Saturday, and the girl at a nearby bookstore told me about The Great and Terrible series by Chris Stewart. There are going to be six books total, and five are out now. I have only read the first one, The Brothers, and it is so good. These books are also nice to read because they aren't really long. This one was a little over 200 pages.
The books are classified as LDS fiction, and the first one is set in the premortal world. So it talks about the War in Heaven and the two different plans that were presented, but it tells the story from different characters' viewpoints.
I wasn't sure if I was even going to buy the book because I normally don't read LDS fiction or nonfiction books, but after reading the back cover I knew I wanted to read the rest of this one:
"As Peter read the charges against Lucifer, the enormous chamber remained deadly still. Everyone knew what the charges would be, for there were no more secrets among the children of God, and the evidence was damning, entirely whole, and complete.
Satan was indeed in open rebellion. He was seeking not only to destroy the souls of all who would follow, but to bring down and destroy the society of the Father, to take His kingdom and power and glory and claim it for his own.
And because it was evident, and because he no longer denied it, there was no doubt of the outcome of the Council of God.

If anyone is looking for a great inspirational book, I would definitely recommend this one. I can't wait to read the rest of the series because it follows the characters from the first book into mortality.
Even though this book is fiction, and we can't possibly remember what things were like in the premortal existence, it's still so interesting to read and think of what it may have been like.
I just finished Enchantment by Orson Scott Card. My sister-in-law, JoAnn, recommended this book to me along with a separate novel, Pastwatch, by the same author. This book is basically a modern-day twist on the classic fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. Although it's not at all what you would expect a modern-day fairy tale to be like. Enchantment held my attention right through the end with a lot of surprising plot twists, and engaged my mind with adventures of history, romance, and quest for self-discovery.
